Handcrafting the highest quality custom furniture since 1989, this father-son duo has made it their purpose to ensure that the originality, quality, and comfort of their furniture is second to none. From frame to upholstery, the Laitamäkis pride themselves in handcrafting sofas, chairs, beds, headboards, and pillows to the highest standard of excellence. Originally from Finland, the Laitamäkis' exceptional Nordic craft has propelled them to becoming one of the leading custom furniture curators working strictly to the trade.
Our roots
Since 1989, the Laitamäkis have prided themselves on creating the highest-quality custom furniture by bearing in mind the importance of elegant style and exceptional quality. Over the past 30 years, while retaining their fundamentals of design, the Laitamäkis have made tremendous strides towards fulfilling their vision of becoming one of the most distinguished custom furniture curators. Their accomplishments are attributed, large in part, to their dedication to every project and their collaborative efforts in working alongside their designers from a project’s start to finish to ensure that expectations are exceeded.
Each year, the Laitamäkis travel over 5,000 miles to Finland. More recently, they spent time reflecting on their 30+ year journey of handcrafting custom furniture since their establishment in 1989. Together with his family, Marco Laitamäki spent time outdoors reupholstering timeless family pieces for a summer cottage located in a small town within South Ostrobothnia, Finland. The experience of reupholstering these pieces in the absence of industrial equipment and professional tools sheds light on the seemingly simplistic, yet incrediby intricate art involved in the Laitamäkis’ production processes.
Laitamäki sets the highest standards of quality, comfort, and elegance in the craftsmanship of handmade furniture.
Every inch—meticulously handcrafted.
“At custom furniture by Laitamäki, we believe the true beauty of handcrafted furniture derives from the human element, which enables us to create pieces with a distinct character. The uniqueness of our pieces derives from the enduring—yet meticulous—design process we undertake—both of which are a testament to our continued industry success.”
