Our Craft
Our kiln-dried hardwood frames are the foundation of our furniture. We use only the most exclusive hardwoods including maple, poplar, and cherry. The process of kiln-drying hardwood frames reduces their moisture content and ensures their strength and longevity. Able to withstand conditions of excessive moisture and humidity, a Laitamäki frame is guaranteed to provide you and future generations with a lifetime of comfort.
We utilize a variety of furniture fills—namely horsehair or foam—to make certain the integrity, shape, comfort, and structure of each piece remains impeccable for generations to come.
Utilizing naturally-sourced materials in preparation for final upholstery, our final structure is outfitted with burlap for structural integrity; down, which seamlessly contours to your body for optimal comfort; and is topped with a plain-woven muslin to mold underlying padding to the desired form, whilst simultaneously lengthening the life of leather and fabrics.
Our master artisans undertake a multi-faceted approach to handcrafting fine furniture by incorporating all elements of style and comfort while ensuring elegance and originality.
Final upholstery is accomplished by our experienced artisans who approach furniture making with a skillful eye—inch-by-inch.
Only the highest standard of excellence in all facets of handcrafted custom furniture are taken into account in our craft.
At Laitamäki, we pride ourselves on handcrafting beautiful pieces with superior comfort and elegant style with precise attention to detail.
